9. Data Retention Periods

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

  • Account information is retained while your account is active and for 12 months after account deletion
  • Transaction and payment records are retained for 7 years for legal and tax purposes
  • Marketing and communication preferences are retained until you opt-out
  • Analytics and usage data is aggregated and anonymized after 24 months
  • You can request deletion of your data at any time, subject to legal obligations
10. International Data Transfers

The Big Bang Events operates from Canada. When you use our platform, your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in Canada and other countries where we have operations or where our service providers are located. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country of residence. By providing your information to us, you consent to such transfers. We implement appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses and adequacy decisions, to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11. Your Rights Under PIPEDA (Canadian Users)

The Big Bang Events is a Canadian company headquartered in Ontario and is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We adhere to the ten Fair Information Principles set out in Schedule 1 of PIPEDA:

  • Accountability: A designated Privacy Officer is responsible for our compliance with PIPEDA. You can reach the Privacy Officer at the contact below.
  • Identifying Purposes: We identify the purposes for collecting your personal information at or before collection (see Section 2).
  • Consent: We collect, use, or disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where otherwise permitted by law.
  • Limiting Collection: We collect only the personal information that is necessary for the purposes identified.
  • Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention: We use and disclose personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, and we retain it only as long as necessary (see Section 9).
  • Accuracy: We make reasonable efforts to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Safeguards: We protect your personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity (see Section 4).
  • Openness: Our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information are openly available — this Privacy Policy is the primary disclosure.
  • Individual Access: You may request access to, and correction of, your personal information at any time. We will respond within 30 days (extendable under PIPEDA section 8(3)).
  • Challenging Compliance: You may challenge our compliance with these principles by contacting the Privacy Officer below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at www.priv.gc.ca.

Breach notification: If a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the OPC as soon as feasible after determining the breach has occurred, in accordance with the Breach of Security Safeguards Regulations.

To exercise your PIPEDA rights: Submit a data access or deletion request via our automated endpoints at /api/account/export and /api/account/delete, or contact the Privacy Officer below.

12. Cookie Categories and Consent

We use cookies in three categories. Only the first category is loaded without your consent; the others require you to click “Accept” on our cookie banner.

  • Strictly necessary cookies: Required for the site to function — authentication, security (CSRF), session continuity. Cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 — measures aggregate usage. Loaded only after you accept.
  • Product analytics: PostHog — measures feature usage and helps us prioritize fixes. Loaded only after you accept.
